This morning, a murder
of crows puncturing
the dawn, cawing
and bobbing
on bare branches,
alive with alarm,
or exhilaration. How
I envied their full-
throated response to
the call of that moment —
so pure, and sharp,
and temporary —
and how they then
left it wholly
behind, flew gladly —
without one backward
glance — into the
next, unknowable,
while the sun —
having heard their excitement —
could not help but rise.
Delightful, Cate – enjoyed reading this several times!

Lately, we have been having alot of birds. Not sure if they are crows. It’s fun watching them and scary too because of the movie The Birds.

That darn Hitchcock; first, he ruins showers, and then he ruins birds. 🙂
They are fun to watch, and this time of year, as species migration approaches, can be especially interesting. Thanks for reading and commenting!

How fun! (Nice touch with the title.) This sounds like many of the mornings around our house, except they might be yelling at our cat, Savannah! 🙂 Have a good day. -Russ
